Tirana, Friday 20 June 2014 – Decentralization and Local Development Programme (dldp), financed by the Swiss Cooperation Office, have organized a workshop for sharing the operational plan of dldp 2014-2015 with key stakeholders (engaged organizations and involved institutions).
The workshop participants were representatives and experts from different stakeholders, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, State Minister for Local Government Issues, Albanian School of Public Administration, Albanian Association of Municipalities, representatives from Swiss Cooperation Office in Albania, other developing programs, and dldp staff. Service providers had the opportunity to be acknowledged with the different project packages of dldp, to be developed and implemented in 2014 and through 2015.
Mrs. Valbona Karakaci, program manager, focused on: major achievements and activities developed by the program for the period January – June 2014, program objectives and expected results, changes (expected) in the field of decentralization and local governance in Albania as well as thematic areas in which dldp operates and the level of intervention.
Presentation of Functional Areas as a strategic choice was held by Mr. Blendi Bushati, dldp expert. In his speech, Mr Bushati focused on the concept of functional areas seen as a starting point for a better understanding of the territory, as a variable for selecting dldp partners and as a development program.
Other presentations held by dldp program officers focused on giving detailed information on thematic areas: waste management, public financial management, institutional building and policy-making, knowledge management platform and electronic government. For each of these thematic areas were presented the main activities to be developed, the expected results, the methodology to be applied during the implementation of these activities, stakeholders, and who benefits (direct or indirect) from these activities or expected results.
