dldp selects best proposals in waste management sector

 Decentralization and Local Development Programme (dldp), have organized on July 4th, 2014 a competition among service providers for best proposals that bring innovative ideas on waste management sector. These proposols will be implemented in 4 dldp partner LGUs which are Dajç, Shkodra, Lezha and Puka during next 12 months. 
The participants in this event were representatives and experts from service providers that operate in waste management field, representatives from Swiss Cooperation Office in Albania, majors of LGUs, international expert in waste management, and dldp staff.

The basis of the evaluation criteria of the proposal were: project feasibility approach, innovative ideas in the field of waste management, and cost – benefit analysis of the projects presented by services providers.
A jury composed of three members is set up for evaluation of projects. The jury consisted of an international expert in the field of waste management, a representative of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Albania, as well as the chairman of the local government unit, depending on the application area of the project. 5 NGOs: Coplan, URI, EDEN, Milieukontakt and AGC presented their proposals for 4 projects “Recycling and waste standards in Shkodra municipality”, “Recycling and financing of the service in Lezha municipality”, “InterLGU collaboration and individual composting in Puka area” and “Agricultural composting in Dajçi commune”. At the end of the process the jury, evaluated all the proposals awarding as best ones the proposal of Coplan for Puka, Uri for Lezha, AGC for Shkodra and Milieukontakt for Dajç.
