First meeting: Discussions about activities conducted by the women in politics network during the phase 2 of DLDP, as well as 2015 plans

On February 12th, DLDP hosted the first meeting of women in politics network. 

The meeting focused on discussions on activities carried out from women in politics network during phase 2 of DLDP, as well as presenting plans for 2015 activities. 

The meeting was attended by members of the network from Shkodra and Lezha Qarks, municipality councillors from different political parties, participants of the second phase of the program (2011-2013); these women were supported by DLDP to follow the Academy of Political Studies; members of DLDP III staff, as well as local experts on social inclusion. 

The participants discussed the activities conducted in the framework of the women network during DLDP II. Regardless of political party affiliation, their discussions were concentrated on the exchange of experiences gained during the activities conducted, as well as highlighting the ways of solving joint problems women in politics forums are facing. 

In the second part of the meeting, DLDP staff presented the steps taken until now on establishing a database of women councillors in municipalities and Qarks, stressing the fact that the network is already extended in new Qarks (Kukës, Peshkopi, and Durrës) where DLDP III operates.  

The women councillors expressed their commitment to participate actively and to increase cooperation among themselves, regardless of party affiliation, and thanked DLDP for supporting them in the future, so that they serve better to their communities. 

The meeting was attended also by the spouse of the Swiss Ambassador in Albania, Mrs. Graf. She was acquainted with problems that women in politics are facing, new challenges they will face in the forthcoming local elections of this year and their achievements in the framework of activities DLDP has conducted with the aim of strengthening the voice of women in the political circle where they operate.
