The Ambassador of Switzerland visits Shkodra

The Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in visit to Shkodra met with government officials and the community  

On February 12th, Swiss Ambassador, Sh. T. Christoph Graf paid a visit to Shkodra where he met with partners and projects that have been supported by Switzerland since early 2000. Ambassador Graf was received by the Mayor of Shkodra, Mr. Luka in his office. 

 

An open exchange between them emphasised the partnership established and nurtured in the frame of Decentralisation and Local Development. Switzerland has contributed to the improvement of services offered by the municipality to the citizens via the One Stop Shop, local Waste Planning, the establishment of Public Finance Management standards, improved capacities and a change of mind-set of the civil servants and the administration.  

A visit to the Shkodra Water Utility and an exchange with the Director Mr. Kepi provided an overview of the contributions that Switzerland with other development partners have offered to the improvement of the functioning and management of this important service for the city.

During his visit to the Marubi Archive, Ambassador Graf announced a contribution from Switzerland, which goes towards supporting the creation of one of the most precious inherited values of Shkodra, the Marubi museum. The Minister of Culture, Ms. Mirela Kumbaro, accompanied Ambassador Graf in the visit to the Marubi Archive. Afterwards the new contribution supporting the establishment of the Marubi Museum was signed by Mr. Graf and Mr. Bushati from the Albanian Development Fund in the presence of officials from Shkodra and Tirana and of friends of the Marubi dynasty artwork.

In the last part of the visit Ambassador Graf paid a visit to the factory of Masks in Shkodra, a successful local business that is exporting to the international markets.
