Dldp participated in the third edition of the leading e-Democracy event in the region, which took place from 23-25 September, 2012 in Ohrid, Macedonia. Developing ICT strategy to increase transparency and accountability and to promote innovative citizens communication – was the core of its presentation.
Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are changing our society in increasingly invasive ways. Nowadays, developing efficient, reflective, sustainable governance mechanisms in the public organizations has become a necessity.
The advancement of the Information Society calls for involvement of diverse stakeholders including international organizations, public institutions, private sector, academia and civil society representatives. The aim of the e-Democracy Conference was to integrate these stakeholders and to develop a knowledge sharing platform that would enable continuous exchange of experiences and opinions about the enhancement of democracy. The e-Democracy Conference addresses from both the policy and technical perspectives, how the use of ICT can help improve transparency, accountability and effectiveness in public institutions.
The overall progress of Albania and the development on ICT at local level were shared with the participants. The good practices of OSSH, (e)financial planning tools, service software’s, use of web innovation were inspiring samples through which the efficiency and performance of each municipality can be raised as well as democracy enhanced.
