In the frame of the project “Building pathways for tourism cooperation through developing handicraft products”, as part of IPA cross-border Programme Albania –Montenegro (2007-2013) financed by European Community, the Commune of Guri i Zi in partnership with Qark of Shkodra have organized on 5th of April 2011, at the premises of Grand Hotel in Shkodra, the Kick-Off meeting for the project.
The scope of the meeting was to make a presentation regarding the project activities, and expected results. It will be focused on information and comprehensive cooperation with other institutions and interested target groups in trans boundary level.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the delegation of the EU to Tirana Mr. Ivan Manzano Barragan, representatives of Montenegro – commune of Podgorica Mr. Boris Mugosa; and Mr. Vojislav Delic, Head of the Qark of Shkodra Mr. Gjovalin Kolombi, representatives of different institutions and NGOs from Shkodra.
The meeting was attended also by dldp representatives aiming to assess the project implementation approach according to EU rules and procedures, due to the technical assistance provided in this regard.
The meeting followed the agenda starting from the welcoming speech done by the head of Commune Mr. Broz Marku and was followed by the head of Qark Council Mr. Kolombi. The same speech was held by Montenegrin representatives as counter partner of the project implementation.
The meeting was followed by presentations on handicraft values for the region of Shkodra, traditions and the culture, brand needed, presentation on the project activities from both Albanian and Montenegrin project implementation units etc.
During the discussions dldp representative Mrs. Karakaci presented the program support for the LGUs in general and Guri i Zi in particular. This intervention served to stress the aim of the support provided for the commune of Guri i Zi regarding the EU funds accessing till EU funds implementation as well as strategic approach for building LGUs capacities.
