Work starts on drafting the solid waste management plan in Velipoja beach area

dldp and Velipoja communes held today the first meeting of the working group for drafting the solid waste management plan for the area of Velipoja beach.

The mayor of Velipoja Mr. Nikollë Marku and other officials in charge for core departments in Velipoja commune as public services, finance, urban planning and local taxes as an important part of this working group, presented some key elements that the commune wishes to include in the waste management plan such as starting the differentiated waste collection, solutions for better cleaning of the beach sand, extension of the collection scheme in the beach area all over the year etc.

dldp and Co-plan representatives (the contracted service provider to support the commune in compiling this plan), presented the process and the need for coordination of all stakeholders in drafting a comprehensive plan and work out a sustainable and feasible plan for communal budget.
Velipoja is a dldp partner LGU and development of tourism is one of the priorities of the commune.
