Second sessions of information were held

On November 10th and 11th 2010, the Program for Local Development and Decentralisation (dldp) held the second sessions of information on the activity lines to be supported by dldp on urban waste management and citizens’ information and communication.

These activities held in Shkodër dhe Lezhë, followed the first information sessions on strategic planning and financial management held at the end of September.

The second information sessions aimed at presenting the fields and cooperation possibilities especially in these two fields, where dldp gives assistance, such as urban waste management and public information and communication, to the representatives of communes and municipalities of the qarks of Shkoder and Lezhe.

The participants in these activities were 68 representatives from 31 communes and municipalities of both qarks. Specialists of the administrations of the qarks’ councils of Shkoder and Lezhe were also part of the activities. The list of proposed activities was presented in these meetings and the representatives of the communes and municipalities were required to define the priority fields where they require support. The innovative mechanisms of the communication with the public, the setup of One Stop Shops, their functioning, cases where they resulted as successful in Albania and the positive experiences that can be used by dldp were other points of the agenda of the activity.

During this meeting it was also discussed about the baseline survey on governance indicators. The findings and the conclusions were discussed and compared. The last part of the activity was planned for the presentation of the results of the first phase of applications for the co-financed projects. During last month, 22 project ideas were presented for evaluation based on the field. The 16 project ideas were selected to compete further on with full projects.

The experts presented either the calendar of future activities or the dldp offer for support and project co-financing. The cycle of information sessions and first thematic workshops were closed with this activity, paving the way for concrete support activities according to the priorities defined by the communes and the municipalities and for the identification of future competence centers.
