DLDP participates in “Local governance and tourism” fair, Tiranë 17 – 18 November 2010

On November 17th and 18th 2010, the Association of the Municipalities of Albania in cooperation with the Association of Communes and that of the Qarks of Albania organised “Local Governance and Tourism” fair. More than 30 local units participated in this fair.

The Program for Decentralisatiom and Local Government (dldp) supported the participation of its four partner municipalities in this activity. The municipalities of Shkoder, Lezhe, Rubik and Rreshen presented their experiences in relation to the promotion of tourism and at the same time they presented their new initiatives for its development.

Besides the presentation of their work in this field, the partner units of dldp presented their successful practices in governance, the winning practices in the Regional Competition organized by dldp in July 2010.

Strategies on tourism development, local government strategies and intercommunal cooperation, studies and projects, business plans and feasibility studies presented in a innovative and original way by the municipalities and communes of Albania demonstrated the potential of local government as a promoter for the development of the country.

Dldp will continue to support in the future not only the municipalities and the communes of the qarks of Shkoder and Lezhe, but also the associations of local electives in their activity for the decentralization process in Albania and the strengthening of local capacities for development.
