Dldp supports the Municipalities of Shkoder and Lezhe in the Swiss International Salon of Tourism, Lugano 2010

The Program for Decentralisation and Local Development, dldp, supported the participation of the Municipalities of Shkoder and Lezhe in the seventh edition of the International Swiss Salon of Tourism, held in Lugano on 30 October – 1 November 2010.
The aim of this activity is to promote a high quality tourism, to protect and present the cultural and natural heritage, to encourage the use of highest service standards, as well as to present new destinations of special values to the Swiss public.

This is the second year that dldp supports its partner units to participate in such a fair. Last year, the Municipality of Shkoder participated in this fair, winning the Swiss Tourism Price 2009 “Charming Albanian City, with a rich history” in the category of “Cultural Destinations”.

The tourism fair in Lugano has got a large participation either from Switzerland or from the northern part of Italy. With an exposure space of 12 thousand meters square and with approximately 80 thousand visitors each year, this fair is a very good opportunity to promote the Albanian tourism.

The municipalities of Shkoder and Lezhe had a common stand of 12 m2 at the fair of 2010. They had presented the most attractive touristic destinations of these cities. The exposition was made up of a big poster 6 x 2.5 m, and of promotional leaflets in Italian and English printed on this occasion.

The stand of Albania (Shkoder – Lezhe) attracted the attention of the visitors, who required information on the country, the possibilities that Albania offers for vacation and qualitative tourism.
